Blogography

I began this oddessy two years ago after returning from Iowa where I did work for John Edwards and doing some local work for other Democrats. I watched C-SPAN hoping to see John Edwards and instead I noticed somone new, Lindsey Graham.
It seems odd to people in my home state of Illinois that I would not have chosen John Edwards to focus my attention on because I knew and had worked for him. It also wasn’t anyone local or a national figure like John McCain, whom everyone would know. I chose Lindsey Graham from South Carolina.

I chose Lindsey for his independence. He shows the trait when he stands up to party leaders and base voters for a principle such as not abusing detainees or paying for Social Security reform. This is the same tack I take in life as a very independent voice.

I discovered him while watching C-SPAN, which is a pastime and the only place I can get non-biased coverage of government information. I like my information raw and I enjoy listening to Lindsey speak becasue he is so passionate when he is not caught in a talking point situation. He has the same vibrant personality as I do.

It was during this process that I became interested in policy issues and the processes the congress used to pass them. The issue that triggered this interest in the rules that govern the process was the battle over judicial nominations andchanging the Senate rules in order to ensure confirmation of certain nominees to the federal nominees. Through this self-learnign I became convinced that the rules were just as they needed to be and therefore the nuclear option was a completely unacceptable alteration of the time honored traditions and rules of the Senate.

I hope that my blog/website helps the reader to gain a better understanding and appreciation of Lindsey, his work, and the Congressional process. I also maintain Squidoo lenses about the subjects covered here.
